In the afternoon of October 30, “Shanghai Modern Service Industry Prosperity Index Proof and Shanghai Modern Service Industry Development Report (2023) Conference” was held at the headquarters of Shanghai Modern Service Industry Association (Riverside Avenue), which was attended by relevant persons in charge of Shanghai Municipal School of Business, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences Publishing House, and participating contributing units. The theme of the conference was “Innovation, Leadership, Empowerment”, and the 2023 Shanghai Modern Service Industry Prosperity Index (developed and compiled by the research group of Shanghai Business School) was released, and experts exchanged views on the issue.

At the meeting, Dr. Liu Xin of Shanghai Business School made a special report on “2023 Shanghai Modern Service Industry Prosperity Index”.The composite value of 60.38 in 2023 is 1.57 lower than that of 2022, which is the lowest value in the past 5 years since 2019. Among the first-level indicators, the Service Ecological Prosperity Index has the highest value (68.31), followed by Service Innovation Prosperity (66.00), Service Market Prosperity (62.38) and Service Organization Prosperity (52.66) in the third and fourth places, and Service Talent Prosperity is the lowest (49.71). The Prosperity Consensus Synthesis Index predicts a slow upward trend with gentle ups and downs in 2024. The report also examines the development trend of the service industry, pointing out eight characteristics and five trending changes, as well as ten areas that need to be empowered in the future.

Tang Yunsong, deputy editor-in-chief of Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences Publishing House, and others considered the boom index report to be rigorous in its data and solid in its arguments, and of great significance in guiding the development of the industry. Li Guande, vice president and secretary-general of the Federation, editor-in-chief of the Shanghai Modern Service Industry Development Report, concluded by saying that the boom index report objectively reflects the development situation and predicts the trend, and the editorial committee has organized a thematic seminar on the results of the demonstration since 2023, and in the future, it will continue to organize expert demonstration meetings, so that more social forces to participate in the preparation of the release of the report, which can provide a basis for decision-makers and investors.

Shanghai Modern Service Industry Development Report (2023), jointly compiled by Shanghai Municipal People's Government Development Research Center and the Federation, is an important document reflecting the annual development of Shanghai's modern service industry, and is also the 10th white paper released. 2023 edition contains 100 related reports, and the compilation team optimized the style and content, including optimizing the chapter arrangement according to industrial classification and policies, adding special topic reports based on major strategies. The paper version will be officially launched in December.
